🗓️ Itinerary (6-Day Version Recommended for Acclimatization)
Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate (1,860m)
Trek through rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Approx. 4–5 hours of hiking
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Hike through moorland to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks
Approx. 5–6 hours of hiking
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo (Optional but Recommended)
Short hike to Mawenzi Ridge (4,400m) and back
Helps improve summit success rate
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Trek through alpine desert to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
Rest and prepare for the summit push
Approx. 5–6 hours of hiking
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5: Summit Day – Kibo to Uhuru Peak & Down to Horombo
Start summit attempt around midnight
Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise
Descend to Horombo Hut for rest
Approx. 12–14 hours of hiking
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Final descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate
Pick-up and transfer back to Moshi
Approx. 5–6 hours of hiking
